Notes
* Eric Dolphy, Musical Prophet: The Expanded 1963 New York
Studio Sessions was awarded 33 (16) points/ballots as
carry over from 2018. It was released as a download in 2018, then
reissued on CD in 2019. We only counted the 2019 ballot of critics
who voted for the record both years.
** Paul Bley-Gary Peacock-Paul Motian, When Will the Blues
Leave was awarded 3 (1) points/ballot based on a new
album vote. (This kind of adjustment was decided early and not
applied consistently, so should probably be removed.)
Critics were asked to list three reissues in descending order,
with three points awarded for #1, 2 for #2, and 1 for #3. (On ballots
where choices were listed alphabetically, each received 2 points.)
The first bold number indicates total points; the number in parentheses
tallies ballots on which a CD appeared, which was used as a tiebreaker.
Reissues/Historical albums that erroneously received votes as New:

- Jon Batiste, Anatomy of Angels: Live at the Village Vanguard (Verve) 2 (1)
- Gil Evans Orchestra, Hidden Treasures: Monday Nights Vol. 1 (|Deko Music) 3 (2)
Albums receiving votes this year that had received votes in
last year's poll:
- Art Ensemble of Chicago and Associated Ensembles (1979-2017, ECM -21CD) 26 (10) + 17 (7)
- The Complete Cuban Jam Sessions (Craft -5CD) 6 (3) + 2 (1)
- Eric Dolphy, Musical Prophet: The Expanded 1963 New York Studio Sessions (Resonance) 42 (20) + 115 (53)

- Bobby Naughton-Leo Smith-Perry Robinson, The Haunt (NoBusiness) 9 (4) + 3 (1)
The rule is that we add the old votes into this year's totals only
if the album received more votes this year than last.
